AYASE, Japan – Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment conclude their movement of a fire unit with line-haul operations at Naval Air Facility Atsugi Oct. 24.
Pacific Guardians worked with local contractors to load vehicles from the port of disembarkation to NAF Atsugi where the line-haul crews downloaded the equipment to prepare for site emplacement in support of Keen Sword 21, a joint expeditionary bilateral exercise, which allows Japan Self-Defense Forces and U.S. military forces to work together across a variety of areas, enhancing the interoperability of U.S. and Japan forces.
This year, Orient Shield 21-1 is being simultaneously with Keen Sword 21 to demonstrate the U.S. Army’s ability to integrate into the Joint Force and enable multi-domain operations that include long-range precision fires and integrated air defense capabilities.
