U.S. Coast Guardsmen aboard seagoing buoy tender USCGC Sycamore (WLB 209) unload a floating boom in preparation for a spilled oil recovery system (SORS) exercise near Barrow, Alaska, July 30, 2012, during exercise Arctic Edge. The floating boom was used to collect oil alongside the cutter for skimming and containment in tanks on its deck. Arctic Edge is a U.S. Northern Command, U.S. Coast Guard, state, local and tribal exercise designed to test the SORS in the waters surrounding the Arctic regions of Alaska.
