Today, NMCCL celebrated the Navy’s 245th birthday. In keeping with this year’s theme “Victory at Sea”, Sailors from the First Class Petty Officer Association spoke about the Navy’s role in the Pacific Theater during WWII. The sailors honored the 30,765 sailors who died, and the numerous Navy vessels destroyed or damaged during the campaign, while highlighting the resilience, bravery, and tenacity it took to obtain victory against the Japanese.
Commanding Officer, CAPT Reginald Ewing gave the closing remarks, and in true leadership style, Skipper gave his assurance and belief in continued success of the Navy, “I have no doubt like we have for the last 245 years we will continue to be successful, not without sacrifice, but we will achieve mission success, but not without the hard work, perseverance, and otherwise ability of all of us to go in the right direction”…”I am very proud to be part of this Navy Team.”
CAPT Ewing, Executive Officer CAPT Alan Christian, and Command Master Chief McDermott shared in serving our active duty and civilian staff for the traditional Navy birthday meal in the galley.
