2nd Lt. Chase Wagner, a student pilot assigned to the 71st Student Squadron was the first in his Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) 2.5 Class 21-06AU to fly solo Oct. 8, 2020, at Vance Air Force Base, Okla. UPT 2.5 officially began in July 2020, at Vance AFB, OK, and Randolph AFB, TX as a way to both increase pilot production and to update a decades-old training platform to reflect current and emerging technologies.
