Bill McBride, Natural Resource Manager, New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NJDMAVA), shovels mulch on to a rain garden at the entrance of the National Guard Training Center at Sea Girt, N.J., Oct. 7, 2020. From Oct 5-7, more than 20 NJDMAVA employees and Stockton University students installed rain gardens in the two medians at the Training Center. The gardens promote infiltration of rain water into the soil, as well as serve as a habitat to attract beneficial wildlife and pollinators. The gardens were built with a 2020 Department of Defense National Public Lands Day Grant and coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation.
