U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Tatiana Villa-Holmes poses inside her office at the 290th Joint Communications Support Squadron based at MacDill, AFB, Oct. 8, 2020. Holmes was chosen as an Airman spotlight during Hispanic Heritage Month that runs from Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. When asked why she chose to serve, she said "After fleeing the drug war in Colombia, my family and I felt so blessed to be in the United States. This country gave us shelter, safety, and many opportunities that we would not have otherwise. I wanted to give back to this country for all the opportunities that my family and I have had and there was no better way that by joining the military." She added, "this observance means that I get to celebrate my heritage, music, food, and culture passed on from generation to generation. I empathized with all the hard working Hispanics that made the United States their home away from home without forgetting where they came from." (courtesy photo)
