CAMP LEJEUNE, North Carolina (Sept. 28, 2020) US Navy Surgeon General, Rear Admiral Bruce Gillingham, speaks with Emergency Department staff at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune. NMCCL’s Trauma Center is the first Level III Trauma Center in the United States Navy, and the first trauma center in the Navy to service local community trauma patients. The trauma center’s presence at NMCCL is vital to Onslow County and Eastern North Carolina where the next closest trauma center is more than an hour away in driving distance.
