The Retardant Aerial Delivery System (RADS) is seen inside a civilian CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopter owned and operated by Coulson Aviation, Inc., on the ramp at Los Alamitos Army Airfield, Sept. 30, 2020, during a press conference at Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos, California. The helicopter, hailed as the world’s largest helitanker due to its ability to drop 3,000 gallons of water or retardant in a single pass using the RADS, is staging on the base for 24/7 wildfire response in Southern California through the end of the year. The helicopter comes to Southern California through a partnership with Orange County Fire Authority with funding from Southern California Edison. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Staff Sgt.
