Airmen from the 56th Fighter Wing Honor Guard lower an American flag during the closing ceremony of the annual POW/MIA 24-hour vigil Sept. 18, 2020, at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. The ceremony featured a formation of Airmen, the flag folding ceremony and a speech by 56th FW command chief, Chief Master Sgt. Daniel Weimer. Each year, on the third Friday of September, Luke Airmen participate in a 24-hour vigil run to honor those who are prisoners of war and missing in action as part of National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
