JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2020) – Lt. Cmdr. Christine Higgins, a certified nurse midwife at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, performs an ultrasound during a prenatal appointment. Higgins, a native of Providence, Kentucky, holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Emory University. National Midwifery Week is Oct. 4 – 10. “Midwives have a unique role in ensuring a ready force.
