JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2020) – Lt. Cmdr. Rose Jolly, a certified nurse midwife at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, measures a patient’s “baby bump” during a prenatal visit, to help estimate the baby’s size and position. Jolly, a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, holds a Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Cincinnati. National Midwifery Week is Oct. 4 – 10. “As a midwife, my job is so much more than just ‘catching babies.’ Midwifery is about connecting with women, teaching them about their bodies, supporting them through a hard pregnancy or a loss, and helping them deal with changes in their bodies throughout their life span. It’s a privilege to be present with women through these intimate and emotional moments in their lives, and I couldn't be more proud to serve as a Navy midwife.” (U.S. Navy photo by Jacob Sippel, Naval Hospital Jacksonville/Released).
