JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Sept. 2, 2020) – Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Edward Cochrane, a surgical technologist at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, assembles medical supplies. Cochrane, a native of Tampa, Florida, recently returned from a 10-month deployment with a Navy Expeditionary Medical Unit to U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility. “The deployment was a humbling experience, filled with teamwork and camaraderie in less than ideal situations. We should never take life for granted and live every day to the fullest, with the utmost happiness and optimism. I’ve been a surgical tech for eight years, and I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge working for the main operating room at the hospital.” National Surgical Technologists Week is Sept. 20 – 26.
