An instructor from Kandahar University teaches basic veterinarian training in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province April 25, 2012. The Kentucky National Guard’s Agribusiness Development Team 4 veterinarian, Capt. David Licciardello of Belmont, Va., wrote the curriculum for the training program which was led by an Afghan instructor. So far the U.S.-funded program has helped combat animal diseases by vaccinating an estimated 30,000 livestock. (U.S. Army photo by 1st Lt. Wesley Newton)
