ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, ILL. - Lt. Gen. Thomas S. James Jr., Commanding General, First U.S. Army, and Sgt. Maj. Mark Heyliger, the G 3/5/7 sergeant major for First U.S. Army pay their respects with Gold Star Family members, during the Rock Island Arsenal 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, September 11, 2019. The family members, Gary and Cheryl Baldwin (back) and Paula Steele, lost their sons in the Global War on Terror that followed the attack. The ceremony marked the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the United States which saw the loss of 2,996 lives.
