    U.S. Marine Cpl. Glenn Stadig, a squad leader with Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, provides security for Afghan National Army soldiers with 3rd Kandak, 1st Brigade, 215th Corps, at a vehicle checkpoint here, March 22, 2012. In addition to advising Afghan forces in the blocks of Marjah, 2nd Bn., 9th Marines conducted partnered counternarcotics missions with the Afghan National Interdiction Unit in the Bari Desert during Operation Psarlay Taba. The partnered force captured around 26,000 pounds of assorted opium products over the course of the four-month operation. Marines and sailors of 2nd Bn., 9th Marines conducted counterinsurgency operations under the leadership of Regimental Combat Team 5, during their seven-month deployment in Marjah.
