TORII STATION, Japan – A Green Beret with 1st Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), is hoisted on a jungle penetrator during medical evacuation training Aug. 19, 2020, at Torii Station, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. A jungle penetrator is an anchor-like seat that is lowered and raised by winch and cable from a hovering helicopter down through jungle canopy. Special Forces Soldiers often conduct MEDEVAC training to ensure they are prepared to swiftly transport wounded to follow-on medical facilities in case of real-life scenarios that may occur during operations.
