FORT BENNING, Ga. – At Doughboy Stadium here Aug. 28, work has begun on extending the length of the heavily used running track, as well as giving it a new rubberized surface and installing a drainage system to keep rainwater from flooding the track. The original track was built 60 feet shy of a quarter mile, but workers will extend it to quarter mile length. To make room for the longer track, workers will also reshape the stadium's parking lot, repave it and add several handicapped parking spots. The track portion of the project is slated to finish in December, with the rest scheduled to wrap up by April 2021.
