Christopher Gilbertson, the new commander of Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 50 and Commander, Task force (CTF) 55, salutes the sideboys at the end of a change of command ceremony onboard Naval Support Activity Bahrain. DESRON 50 and CTF 55 operate in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
