U.S. Marine Cpl. Mason Alfrey with Air Combat Element, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, takes part in training at Nackeroo Airfield, Bradshaw Field Training Area, Northern Territory, Australia, Aug. 10, 2020. Alfrey is a native of Shelby, Ohio.
“I fix computers. I’m the only one in my whole section here and in the whole squadron. Our squadrons are small, and since they’re small there’s sometimes only one or two people in each section. It rides on them knowing what they’re doing and being good at what they do so they can get the job done. Everyone’s counting on you. It takes all of us to be able to fly.”
During the extended training, MRF-D’s ACE made history by launching an RQ-21A Blackjack into flight, from Australian soil, for the first time ever. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Cpl. Harrison Rakhshani)
