(June 5, 2020) Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Detroit (LCS 7) passes through the main shipping channel into Key West, Fla., preparing to pull into Naval Air Station Key West’s Truman Harbor. Detroit is deployed to the U.S. Southern Command area of responsibly to support Joint Interagency Task Force South’s mission, which includes counter illicit drug trafficking in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific. Naval Air Station Key West is the state-of-the-art facility for combat fighter aircraft of all military services, provides world-class pierside support to U.S. and foreign naval vessels, and is the premier training center for surface and subsurface military operations.
