PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. —Jeremy Umbarger, father of 5-year-old Wilder, guides his son’s hand over a C-130 Hercules propeller at the 302nd Airlift Wing July 30, 2020. After seeing the Blue Angels perform in Michigan, Wilder fell in love with airplanes and wanted to see a real airplane up close and meet a pilot. As Wilder struggles with a terminal illness, X-Linked Adrenoleukodystrophy, his wish was granted through the Make-a-Wish Foundation, who sponsored the Umbarger family to visit the Colorado Springs area from Broomfield, Colo.
