    Operations Specialist Seaman Jerry Carpenter, assigned to USS Lake Erie, performs line handlers for Japanese destroyer, JDS Kongo, as she moors at Naval Station Pearl Harbor. Kongo is the first Japanese ship with the capability to detect; track and intercept short to medium range ballistic missiles. Later this year, Kongo will conduct a flight test, designated Japan Flight Test Mission-1, at Pacific Missile Range Facility, Hawaii.
