Cattle corral waiting to load on to a transportation trailer June 29, 2020, at Beale Air Force Base, California. Beale’s grazing program enables a working relationship with local ranchers and base personnel to bring cattle on to the installation, which in turn provides mutual benefits to both parties. The base makes money off of the leases and benefits ecologically, all while allowing the rancher’s cattle to graze on green pastures, breed and give birth on Beale, increasing the size of the herds.
