Secretary of the Navy Richard Danzig holds a press conference to discuss the accidental bombing of Vieques Training Range in Puerto Rico Dec. 3, 1999. Also appearing at the press conference are U.S. Marine Corps Gen. James Jones, commandant of the Marine Corps; U.S. Navy Adm. Jay Jones, chief of naval operations; and Rudy de Leon, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness. The April 1999 bombing left one person dead when a Marine Corps F/A-18 Hornet aircraft, on a training mission, dropped two 500-pound bombs striking a security post, killing one person and injuring four others.
