“I was born in Edmonton, Kentucky and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. I am a third generation Marine, my father served 26 years between the Marine Corps and Army. For several of those years he was a medical evacuation crew chief, and when he was home he would keep a fire extinguisher and medical kit in the car. I remember several instances of our family coming upon a car accident and my father taking immediate, sometimes life-saving action before emergency medical services arrived on scene. My mother and father instilled compassion at a young age in me, and that has carried over into my military career."
“I hope the Expeditionary Medical Facility (EMF) never needs to be utilized, but its purpose in Guam is to help service members and civilians alike. I hope this operation- offloading and setting up the EMF- shows that we aren’t just about iron mountains and strength. We can also help in times of crisis. The United States’ capability to quickly mobilize anywhere in the world with medical supplies is huge, and that capability was on display on Guam.”
