“I had been set on joining the military since I graduated high school, and I knew it would make me a better person mentally and physically. We didn’t have access to great medical facilities where I grew up. When the Swine Flu pandemic happened, my brother, my sister, and myself all got it, and we were given an inaccurate diagnosis which made us even sicker. The medical facility told me that they did not have the resources to accurately test for Swine Flu and referred us to a doctor and hour away from where I lived. My brother’s illness was the most extreme of the three of us, and he was given a prescription by the first medical facility we were treated at that would’ve killed him had he not been properly diagnosed. It was after this experience that I understood how important quality and timely medical care is, so it was an honor and a privilege to know that I was helping citizens and other service members in Guam get the medical supplies that they needed.”

"I learned that COVID-19 is very serious, but with the proper precautions we could all help stop the spread. All of the Marines that deployed with me came back COVID-negative, and remained that way after a 14 day quarantine."
