(May. 30, 2020) – Dean Doolittle, 53, is one of Military Sealift Command Atlantic’s mission critical employees serving during the COVID-19 pandemic that has swept the nation in 2020. For the past 10 years, he has served as the Marine Transportation Specialist team lead in charge of MSCLANT’s Jacksonville (JAX) port office in Florida, located at the Marine Corps Supply Facility, which supports MSCLANT’s mission to provide ocean transportation of equipment, fuel, supplies, and ammunition in the Eastern Atlantic to sustain US forces worldwide. Doolittle, along with two other MTS teammates, Scott Denney and Lawrence Dowsing at the JAX port office, supports Mayport and Mobile Navy bases and the Navy Fuel Depot in Florida. Born in Detroit, Mich., Doolittle retired from the Marines as a master sergeant in 2008, with 24 years of military service. When asked why he joined MSC he said, “It is another way to serve the nation and be a part of something that is bigger than me.”
