Because concrete has rebar in it to help it hold its form, Spc. Brian Johnson from Blacklick uses a torch to learn metal cutting techniques July 9, at Camp Sherman in Chillicothe. Johnson is a member of the Ohio National Guard’s 1194th Engineer Company. Members of the 1194th are participating in a multi-part training exercise being conducted by firefighter instructors from the Oklahoma based Response International Group. These instructors are able to take their experience and teach soldiers concepts that they would not learn in a normal training environment.
