"I was drawn to the Laboratory Science field for my love of Science and Math. My Biology professor at McKendree University helped guide me to this career path. While I am certified in all areas of the Laboratory, the Microbiology and Chemistry departments are certainly my favorite. And I really do love my job! It has definitely been more stressful lately with meetings and putting policies into place, but I just go home and try to live my normal life. I have to be extra cautious with sanitizing especially around my children. I'm following the shelter in place with the exception of coming into work and a quick grocery store run. And my kids are at home following the rules as well, but we do get out for walks. The thought of contracting the disease can be scary, but it is important to note that as healthcare workers we follow the Standard Universal Precautions all the time. This means we treat every patient and every specimen as if it were contagious. So as the media has the world focusing on hand hygiene and facial protection, we here at the Med Group are accustomed to this as a normal way of life."
-Lynn Baker, 375th Medical Support Squadron medical laboratory scientist
