Under Secretary of the Army James E. McPherson speaks with Maj. Gen. Robert Whittle, the deputy chief and deputy commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers, and Col. Aaron Reisinger, commander of USACE, Chicago District, about the transformation of Hall B at the COVID19 Alternate Care Facility at McCormick Place April 17 following a press conference. Senator Tammy Duckworth, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot also attended the press conference. Upon completion, McCormick Place will have a total of 3000 patient rooms available. The Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, in support of the White House, Department of Defense, FEMA, and state and local authorities, has been working around the clock in order to create four ACFs to help slow the spread of the pandemic.
