Maj. Gen. Robert Whittle, the deputy chief and deputy commanding general of the Army Corps of Engineers, speaks to the media about the progress of Hall B of the COVID19 Alternate Care Facility at McCormick Place on April 17. The Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District, in support of the White House, Department of Defense, FEMA, and state and local authorities, has been working around the clock in order to create four ACFs to help slow the spread of the pandemic. Upon completion, McCormick Place will have a total of 3000 patient rooms available.
