Naval Air Station Whiting Field, the busiest aviation complex in the U.S., continues to train future aviation war fighters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard students, to include some international students, are assigned to Training Air Wing Five to complete a rigorous training curriculum to become future aviators. Using safety masks and health measures, simulator instructors and students (pictured) discuss aspects of the aircraft and panel indicators in preparation for flying in a simulator, all part of the instruction for future pilots. Training Air Wing Five at NAS Whiting Field conducts approximately 60 percent of the Navy's primary flight training, and 100 percent of advanced rotary wing training.
