Naval Air Station Whiting Field, the busiest aviation complex in the U.S., continues to train future aviation war fighters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard students, to include some international students, are assigned to Training Air Wing Five to complete a rigorous training curriculum to become future aviators. Using safety masks and health measures, the helicopter student aviators (pictured) fly in one of the new Level 7 simulators to build proficiency in their flight training. These student aviators complete a rigorous six-month advanced rotary wing training to get their wings of gold and move out to their respective services to fly fleet aircraft. NAS Whiting Field conducts approximately 60 percent of all primary flight training and 100 percent of advanced rotary wing training for the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.
