On Easter Sunday, members of the task force shelter support provided Easter baskets to the 24 children residing in hotels for residents without homes, Denver, Colo., April 12, 2020. The baskets were made possible through donations by Colorado Air National Guard members and included packaged candy, stuffed animals, coloring books and toy cars. The children and parents were very appreciative and it served as a great way to connect further with these wonderful people. Task Force Shelter Support Charlie is tasked with supporting four sites operated by the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and Volunteers of America. The mission is to help these organizations cope with unique needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and to prevent further spread of the virus by providing basic needs to the hotel guests so they can isolate themselves knowing their basic needs will be met in a safe environment. The Colorado National guard members are involved with a variety of tasks including food delivery, trash disposal, wellness checks, sanitizing common areas (stair railings, vending machines, etc) and maintaining liaison with local healthcare workers and on-site security.
