The California National Guard’s religious team of Maj. Saul Castillo, full-time support chaplain of the California National Guard’s Joint Forces Headquarters, and Sgt. Maj. Desmond D. Knight, noncommissioned officer chief of religious affairs, tend to an Easter Sunday congregation April 13 at the Sacramento headquarters. What’s normally used as an assembly office was converted into a temporary place of worship, where Castillo and Knight led troops in prayer service. More than a thousand Cal Guardsmen are dispersed throughout the state supporting COVID-19 humanitarian missions and away from family this religious day.
