Ens. Bridgette Fitzhugh directs an ambulance to the personal housing unit (PHU) in support of the Department of Defense COVID-19 response New Orleans, La., April 9, 2020. The PHU is designed for symptomatic patients transferred from area hospital emergency departments with pending COVID-19 test results. The Sailors with the Expeditionary Medical Facility New Orleans Detachment work in coordination with federal, state, and local health officials to ensure equipment and resources are in place and are operationally capable to safely treat patients. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, is providing military support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help communities in need.
