The Honolulu District, US Army Corps of Engineers, Alternate Care Facility (ACF) assessment team in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, the State of Hawaii, and Maui County conducted three hotel assessments for sites in Maui County. Under the FEMA mission assignment, USACE experts are providing planning and assessments for the possible conversion of existing buildings into Alternate Care Facilities. The mission was successful due to short notice support from the Alpha Company 3-25 General Support Aviation Battalion, 25th Combat Aviation Brigade who provided two Blackhawk helicopters to move the team from Oahu to Maui. The mission is further evidence of a whole Government approach in combating the Coronavirus Pandemic. Follow on missions for Hawaii County and Kauai County are planned for future assessments.
