SAN DIEGO (March 25, 2020) – Hospital Corpsmen 1st Class Jonathan Ivey, left, screens Ensign Mackenzie Jones for signs of the coronavirus before allowing him to board the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8). Makin Island has a 24-hour medical screening station at the brow of the ship; all hands must pass through this station when coming aboard the ship. Anyone identified as meeting the criteria on the checklist will be fitted with a surgical mask, nitrile gloves and escorted to medical for further evaluation.
