Gunner's Mate 1st Class Martin Castro, right, and Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Brenda Reis, both assigned to the Research Rockets Division of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme White Sands Detachment, verify final installation procedures were followed on a Mk-70 Terrier rocket motor initiator in preparation for a future launch supporting the Marshall Space Flight Center's studies of the Sun. MK-70 Terrier motors are utilized as the first stage in a two stage rocket providing economical vehicles for research interests and universities to launch small payloads into low-Earth orbit.
