James Harris, representing junior and senior members of the Navy Medical Corps assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Bremerton, ably conduct the traditional cake cutting celebrating the Medical Corps’ 149th birthday March 3, 2020. The Medical Corps was founded March 3, 1871, with the mission of providing medical care to U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps personnel aboard ships and shore stations, as well as on the battlefield. Approximately 4,400 active and reserve Navy physician and surgeons continues to pave new frontiers in patient care delivery, medical education, and biomedical research. NMRTC Bremerton supports more than 60,000 military families in West Puget Sound, shaping military medicine through training, mentoring and research to ensure a ready medical force and operationally ready force.
