Ships from the USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group, the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force and the Republic of Korea navy are underway during a trilateral exercise. The exercise included integrated helicopters operations, visit, board, search and seizure exchanges and demonstration, communication links, interoperability, dynamic ship maneuvers and liaison officer exchanges. The trilateral events improve interoperability, readiness and the capability to respond quickly to various situations in the region, ranging from disaster relief to maritime security activities.
