U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Raul Cruz accepts a plate of food from a Royal Thai Army soldier while participating in a food exchange during Exercise Cobra Gold 2020 at Ban Dan Lan Hoi, Kingdom of Thailand, March 3, 2020. Cruz, a native of Mcallen, Tex., is an engineer with Battalion Landing Team, 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit. The exchange allowed the U.S. and Royal Thai armed forces members to experience each other’s culture and taste-test new foods. Cobra Gold enhances military to military engagement efforts to maintain readiness and increase the capability, capacity, and interoperability of partner nations while simultaneously reinforcing our commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
