    Robert R. Harrison, or Bob Harrison, voluntarily joined the Army out of Hamilton, Iowa, in June of 1943. He completed basic training at Camp Roberts, California, ultimately earning a position as a wire communications specialist assigned to Recon Platoon, 2nd Squadron, 8th Regiment, also a part of the 2nd serial of the ‘Flying Column’ sent into Manila.
