Maj. Gen. John C. Harris Jr. (left), the Ohio Adjutant General, presents an award to Balla Sy, one of the founders of GOREE (Giving Others Resources for Education and Empowerment) Drum and Dance, for his troupe’s performance during the Ohio National Guard’s 2020 African-American/Black History Month program Feb. 24, 2020, at the Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory in Columbus, Ohio. The performance was part of an ongoing series of special observances conducted throughout the year to recognize the contributions of all Americans to U.S. culture and increase awareness, mutual respect and understanding.
