SILVERDALE, Wash. (Jan. 10, 2020) "“It will be really good for the guys - they’ve spent a lot of time training and working up to this point. DASO (Demonstration and Shakedown Operation) is a lot of long hours, a lot of maintenance and a lot of training to set them up for success. Being able to get to that point where they can actually conduct a test launch and see the fruits of their endeavor is the whole point," said Chief Warrant Officer Michael Swallom, assistant weapons officer from Honolulu, USS Maine (SSBN 741). Maine was commissioned in Groton, Connecticut, July 25, 1995. She is the 16th submarine of the Ohio-class of ballistic-missile submarines and the third U.S. Navy ship to bear the name.
