U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Matthew Duggan, a network administrator with Headquarters Company, Headquarters Battalion, 3rd Marine Division, rests during a break at a 6-mile hike on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, Feb. 21, 2020. “Being out here has given me the opportunity to better myself physically and mentally,” said Duggan, a native of Weymouth, Massachusetts. “The people and the culture around me has made a large impact on how I do that.” Headquarters Battalion regularly conducts conditioning hikes to ensure all Marines maintain physical fitness and gear familiarity to be able to move over large distances.
