Armée Nationale Mauritanienne soldiers learn patrolling techniques from their German Bundeswehr instructors before executing a simulated patrol during Flintlock 20 in Kaedi, Mauritania, Feb. 20, 2020. Units from each of the 15 African militaries participating in Flintlock build upon the previous day’s training, which contributes to an increasingly complex scenario and sharpening their skills for the fight against extremism. Flintlock is an annual, integrated military and law enforcement exercise that has strengthened key partner-nation forces throughout North and West Africa since 2005.
