Latvian Sgt. 1st Class Girts Aleksis, senior enlisted seminar trainer, speaks with Armed Forces of Liberia senior non commissioned officers during a senior enlisted seminar at Edward Binyah Kesselly Military Barracks, Liberia May 15. For the first time, two Latvian senior NCOs accompanied U.S.-based trainers from the Michigan National Guard and U.S. Africa Command, respectively, to provide instruction. The bilateral training team marked the first formal Latvian government involvement on the African continent in over one hundred years.
