Maj. Gen. William Spangenthal (left), Air Education and Training Command’s director of operations and communications, and Col. Matthew Jensen, 149th Operations Group commander, greet the crew chief of their F-16 familiarization flight Feb. 13 at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. Spangenthal visited the 149th Operations Group to learn more about its people and mission. The cornerstone of the 149th's flying mission is the 149th Operations Group, a sub-organization of the Air National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing, whose role is to take pilots, either experienced aircrew or recent graduates from USAF undergraduate pilot training, and qualify them to fly and employ the F-16.
