Max, a military working dog assigned to the 1st Special Operations Security Forces Squadron, lays between his handler’s legs at Hurlburt Field, Florida, Dec. 5, 2019. The 1SOSFS built a new K-9 training pad after one of their military working dogs, Max, was bitten by a poisonous spider and almost retired prematurely. The pad took six weeks to complete, cost $175 thousand and is made of canine grass which is a fake grass that discourages harmful insects from inhabiting it.
